    Remote legacy software support for Big Data, ETL & Business Intelligence

  • A short introduction

    factually offers remote software maintenance and support for various legacy software as well Big Data- and batch ETL-programming.

    Services offered are:

    1. Complicated batch programming maintenance
    2. ETL / ELT for traditional Business Intelligence- and Big Data environments
    3. Reporting services for both less supported and well supported packages
    4. Optional Migration services for various technologies

    Not all legacy software products can rely on an abundance of resources these days for supporting them adequately - think of, say, ORACLE PL/SQL or BODS, until they are end-of-life or converted to a more modern environment.

    Contracts for services are effected as follows:

    • on a time and materials basis
    • via a Subscription

    Subscriptions are subject to an agreed to on-boarding approach. factually guarantees services availability within an agreed timeframe, with express consideration for unit- and integration testing; we are capable, but cannot understand your database in only three hours, so to say.

  • Remote services

    Helping you out with the less available skills, with proven expertise. That latter means we can do this from a distance, lowering costs for all.

    Big Data ETL / ELT Pipelines

    With a GitFlow approach we can maintain and develop:

    1. Databricks pipelines on AZURE
    2. Plain vanilla Spark on HDP and Cloudera
    3. python and SQL
    4. Spark with Synapse
    5. Informatica

    Real-time or batch programming with cron scheduling or Databricks Work Flow scheduling. Excellent data-wrangling skills on offer. Use of API's are not an issue. Solid understanding of best techniques and performance, pyspark or Scala.

    Reporting with COGNOS & Tableau

    1. COGNOS report development including Framework Manager. Not included is the release of software to production
    2. If you need more complex Tableau reports, we can help you here. Tableau has more and more capabilities as it evolves and can do, albeit for DWH reporting with multiple fact tables and conform dimensions there are issues you need to work around

    With a GitFlow approach we can maintain and develop:

    1. ORACLE PL/SQL batch programming on ORACLE 19c and earlier versions, and in future ORACLE 23ai
    2. ETL for Informatica
    3. ETL for BODS
    4. Snowflake scripting

    1. Batch programming with use of Web Services - curl or otherwise, semaphore like-processing, concurrency, simple GUI's, etc.

    2. Converting PL/SQL code to Spark (pyspark or Scala)
    3. Converting PL/SQL code to Databricks (pyspark or Scala)

    5. Converting PL/SQL code to Snowflake
    6. Migrate pandas to pyspark
    7. Migrate OWB to Spark (pyspark or Scala)
    8. Assessment of migration approach

  • Remote services on-boarding and process

    A practical approach for commitment to quality and an efficienct approach that lowers costs for both parties.

    There are two modes of contract to choose from:

    1. Time and materials for an agreed to unit of work
    2. The other option is a Subscription approach

    In the sections below we discuss the various aspects and merits and considerations that apply, depending on what the scope of work and technology is.

    In all cases testing is an important aspect requiring express attention from the client.

    Strategy Consults, Audits and Second Options are all fixed price after scope is agreed to.

    The fixed price is decided by performing a short but sufficiently in-depth initial discussion with the customer and may well entail a visit. Any visit incurs a fee that is reimbursed if the Strategy consult proceeds.

    Excellent TOGAF and Archimate skills on offer, as well as practical hands-on design skills.
